Man of the Year Review

I know this movie came out in ‘06, but I feel the need to write a review on something horrible. I really do hate this movie.

The worst part of this movie is that it doesn’t even know what kind of movie it wants to be. By all the promotional material I thought I was going to see a comedy about Robin Williams becoming president of the United States….I was wrong. Instead it randomly turns in to a conspiracy movie about some voting system that doesn’t even exist! Worse still is that Robin Williams isn’t even in the movie near as much as he should be. I like Robin Williams, but some of the recent movies he’s been in have been absolutely horrible.

The first few minutes are at least an attempt at comedy, but they fail to deliver and any hopes for any sense of humor are crushed into oblivion as soon as the conspiracy nonsense starts. The movie tries to become some kind of suspense thriller or something, but never feels even the slightest bit suspenseful or thrilling, just flat out boring. I honestly can’t laugh at this movie or take it seriously. It fails at every turn.

The only thing that I can say anything positive about (believe me you have to look really hard to find anything even remotely positive) is that they made Tom Dobbs (Robin Williams character) neither a Republican or a Democrat so it didn’t come off as propaganda. But that doesn’t make the movie any bit enjoyable. I really do hate this movie.

Vote no on Tom Dobbs.
