I recently received a new issue of Nintendo Power that included a few highlights from games coming to the Nintendo Wii and DS in 2009, and amongst them was a really awesome looking Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title (so far there is no official name, so I’ll just call it “the new Ninja Turtles game”).

The new Ninja Turtles game is being developed by Team Ninja (of Ninja Gaiden fame) and Game Arts, the guys behind Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which really shows, as the new Ninja Turtles game looks very much like the Ninja Turtles own take on Smash Bros.

So far the only announced playable characters are the four turtles themselves (Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello) and everyones favorite martial arts expert/ anthropomorphic rat, Master Splinter. Of course, one would be foolish to bet against the Shredder as a playable character. I’m hoping Miyamoto Usagi and Casey Jones also join the roster (although I don’t see how they couldn’t).

Being a lifelong Ninja Turtles fan, I have to say I’m very excited for this game. It has already become one of my most anticipated games of 2009! I hope it can live up to my expectations, but the way I see it, Smash Bros + Ninja Turtles = an epic win!
