Please note that this review is coming from someone who has yet to read any of the Twilight books, so I cannot make a comparison between the two.
Twilight is a love story between a regular human girl named Bella Swan and her vampiric boyfriend Edward Cullen that has started a Twilight phenomenon, although I feel something must have been lost in translation when it jumped onto the big screen, because I can’t imagine Twilight being anywhere near as big as it is if it had to rely solely on this film.
The movie either moves way too fast or waaay too slow, there is no real balance. I’m sorry but it seemed like it took Bella half of the movie to figure out Edward was a vampire, and whenever an action sequence shows up, it feels incredibly rushed.
The story also doesn’t seem to go very far, which is a shame because I felt it had a lot of potential. The villain isn’t even formally introduced to the audience until late in the film, and he gets very little time on screen before the end. The love story could have been something great, but to me it just felt like predictable teen drama.
There are a few scenes in the film that do spark some interest, but they are amongst the aforementioned “way too fast” category. Just thinking about the movie, I see so much missed potential, I can see a lot of what they tried to do with this movie from a storytelling perspective, but it just didn’t deliver.
If I could describe Twilight in one word, it would be….Boring. The film is seriously like two hours of not much happening. I should read the books to see what all the fuss is about, and hopefully the second film will be better, but as far as this Twilight film goes, it’s just boring. If you want to see a truly moving love story, I suggest WALL-E.
Here’s to a better sequel.

I definitely agree about the too rushed part I felt exactly the same thing. Since I read the book though the movie made much more sense, but I think that if you haven’t read the book the movie will just seem like a confusing whirlwind. I also felt that the movie had so much more potential. I think they were trying to cram everything from the book into the movie and that contributed to the rushed feeling of the fiml. They are also changing directors in the next film. Oh, Wall-E makes me cry a little bit when Wall-E is taking the deactivated EVE around the post-apocalyptic earth and protecting her.

I have yet to see Wall-E. I want to see that film real soon! That’s honestly awkward that a vampire will sparkle in the sun instead of being burned. I can easily say, when I saw this film, the story was pretty slow. And what I don’t get is, the apple. That one scene an apple falls and bounces high enough into Edward’s hands. What is up with that.
