Once again the (now undeservedly) biggest night for film has come and gone. I figured I would give my thoughts on the event. Let’s start with Hugh Jackman. I actually thought Hugh Jackman was a pretty good host…
It has been a terribly long time since the last time I wrote a review…Which is incredibly ironic given that that is why I made this website. Anyway, on to business!. Read more
Nintendo recently announced that Sora, Kirby and Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai’s personal video game studio, is being reformed as Project Sora, a full blown studio for Nintendo. The studio is already working on a top secret project that is so secret all we know about it is that it isn’t Smash Bros., but something entirely new. And according to Sora’s (ahem! Project Sora’s) new website “The thoughts of game designer Masahiro Sakurai and Nintendo have become one, and a new project has started. In order to expand what can be offered to the world through games, we will have Nintendo’s full cooperation and make something that Nintendo could not do on its own”. No word yet on whether the game is for the Wii or DS, but given the secretive nature of the project, I would speculate it’s for the Wii (handheld games are rarely ever kept secretive for some reason). One thing is for sure, I’m already excited for this mystery game.
It has been an interesting past few years for the video game industry, 2007 saw a lot of high quality titles, but 2008 seemed a bit hit and miss to me. 2009 looks to keep up the pace in “high profile titles”, I just hope they don’t end up getting too over hyped. Of course, everyone has their own list of games they are looking the most forward to, the following are the games I am the most excited for.

Well it has been a little while longer that it should have been since the last update…On to business!
As you may have heard, Pikmin will be rereleased for the Nintendo Wii in March, followed soon afterwards by a Pikmin 2 rerelease, both as part of the “New Play Control!” lineup of Gamecube Wiimakes. As you also may have heard, Pikmin 3 is currently in development and may be released late this year or ealry 2010. The point of this seemingly meaningless rant is that Nintendo may finally be marketing Pikmin in a way that could finally get the series the attention it deserves! I think remaking the first two titles as a sort of build up is an excellent strategy (Disney and Pixar are doing the same thing with the Toy Story franchise starting later this year). I have always said that Pikmin never got its due stateside. I thought Pikmin was another testiment of Shigeru Miyamoto’s genius, but sadly it never managed to reach the success of some of Nintendo’s other franchises. But now, hopefully the remakes can revive interest to the series and bring in a new audience as well, and allow Pikmin 3 (and the series in general) to gain a deeper following. The number three has proven to be Nintendo’s lucky number on more than one occasion in the past, so let’s hope they continue that tradition with Pikmin, because those little guys deserve it.
