Excuse the obviously-trying-too-hard title of this post, I couldn’t help myself.

Anyways…

It seems Disney is doing a much better job at promoting Ponyo then they did the previous Miyazaki films which they distributed (which is intended as a compliment, despite the fact that any decent promotion for the film would make it better promoted then the others). I went to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen the other day at Imax (expect a review for that soon as well as the long overdue, much deserved review for Up) and what do I see at the theater but a BIG OL’ poster for Ponyo right smack-dab in front of the place (as well as a poster of a incredibly creepy Mad Hatter/Johny Depp from the upcoming Alice in Wonderland…I’m going to be having nightmares of that for a few days). The only poster I ever recall seeing for Spirited Away was at the theater at which I saw it…After it won its Oscar during its re-release when it  was already nearing its DVD release, and it was just one of those posters in a row of movie posters. You know the kind. But this was a BIG poster smacked right where everyone could see it.

But along with said oversized poster I also happened to stumble upon (okay I intentionally checked) Disney’s movie homepage and noticed a slightly extended version of the trailer right there near the very tip top of their video list (though a Jonas Brothers video currently resides on the very top). So why not go here http://home.disney.go.com/movies/ and take a look at the trailer for yourself…unless you already saw it via my previous link…Even then why not watch this one anyway!

Thank heavens John Lasseter got that promotion. He’s more then likely the man responsible for giving Ponyo its push.

Be sure to see Ponyo once it’s released on August 14th!
