March is going to be a fantastic month for animated films on DVD and Blu-ray!

Yes, it seems March is going to be very kind to my animated film library. I can’t recall any single month in recent memory that has seen the release of so many truly great animated films on DVD/Blu-Ray as this coming March.

March will see the DVD and Blu-Ray release of Hayao Miyazaki’s latest masterpiece, Ponyo. This will mark the first time a Miyazaki film has been released on Blu-Ray, and the DVD will be released in standard and special editions. The special edition DVD and the Blu-Ray even include an adorable Ponyo plush toy! This beautiful, wonderful animated film will be released March 2nd.

Along with Ponyo, three other Miyazaki films will see new special edition DVD releases: Kiki’s Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro.

All three films have seen previous releases on DVD, but these new special editions promise more bonus features and even better picture and sound quality. Personally, I couldn’t be more excited for these rereleases! All three films will be released on March 2nd alongside Ponyo.

And later in the month, both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 will be released on new special edition DVD and Blu-Ray on March 23rd. Toy Story has seen DVD releases before, but never on Blu-Ray. And it is sure to include brand new bonus features. Again, the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 special edition DVD and Blu-Ray are expected to be released on March 23rd!

With Ponyo, Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro, March will bring us new releases of a good number of the greatest animated films of all time! I simply can’t wait for March so I can get me some animated masterpieces on DVD and Blu-Ray!

Now I only have to ask, when is Spirited Away going to get a new DVD/Blu-Ray release?
