My Top Ten Films of 2009 (Golden Yammie)

**4: Star Trek**

To boldly go where no Star Trek film has gone before.

To boldly go where no Star Trek film has gone before.

Star Trek is awesome!

When it comes to movies made for pure entertainment, few films in 2009 can even hold a candle to Star Trek.

A truly great action film, Star Trek kicked things into hyper-speed in the entertainment departments with fun, likable characters, great action sequences and a whole lot of adventure.

Star Trek is a wonderful example of an action movie done right. And in a year that brought so many shallow action films like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Terminator Salvation, Star Trek not only rose above its “competition,” it soared.

Star Trek also manages to escape fanboyish hatred with its whole time-travel storyline (which doesn’t make as much sense as Back to the Future, but hey, what time-travel movie does?) which not only brings us a fantastic reboot, but also brings us an appearance by Leonard Nemoy! Oh yeah! Old school Spock!

I can now honestly say I am highly anticipating Star Trek 2.  If it’s half as entertaining as this Star Trek, it’s bound for greatness.

Maybe a very late comment to place here. But i’ve only recently discovered your website through your Gamespot stuff. Couldnt agree more with the nr 1 and 2. I wouldve put District 9 a bit higher and wouldve placed the Hurt locker on 3. looking at this i noticed what a lovely movie year 2009 was and still is.

No comment is too late on Slogan Yams! Especially considering most of my reviews are written much later than they should be…

Thank you for your input. Glad to see another fan of Ponyo and Up. While it was definitely difficult to number my list, those two were always guaranteed my top spots.
