My Top 10 Video Games of 2010 (Golden Yammie)

2010 saw many, many great video games (though it also had its share of disappointments). In fact, its gaming output furthered how awesome of a year in entertainment 2010 was (there were a lot of great movies as well, as well as the Bed Intruder Song). 2010 proved to be a standout year in interactive entertainment, and provided some of the very best games of the current console generation.

Keep in mind I can’t play every major game released (they can get really long!), so some fan-favorites might not appear here, but I hope to experience them when I get the chance. But Bayonetta isn’t here because I didn’t like it.

Anyway, with all of the great games released in 2010, there were some that stood above the rest. For me, these were those games (plus honorable mentions). Read more

Yammie Awards: Video Games (2010)

My Yammie Awards continue with the best in gaming of 2010! Yes, it’s probably past award season by now, but I don’t care. As was the case with my movie awards, my award for best game will be presented in am upcoming “top ten countdown” post. This is a celebration of achievements such as “best visuals” and “best music.”

Without further ramblings, here are my Yammies for the video games of 2010! Read more

The Adjustment Bureau Review

"In the land of Mordor, where the shadows lie."

The Adjustment Bureau is a film directed by George Nolfi (who previously wrote Oceans Twelve and The Bourne Ultimatum) and stars Matt Damon and Emily Blunt.  The film is, in a sense, a science-fiction thriller, though it’s probably equal parts romantic drama. But in this post-Inception age of movies, does the Adjustment Bureau actually prove to be a standout? Or is just another would-be contender? Read more

The Nintendo 3DS is now on store shelves in North America! :D

Wrestlemania Preditions

Well I haven’t written anything about the world of professional wrestling in a while, so I figured, with Wrestlemania coming up soon, I would give my predictions (and early impressions) of the event. Read more

Donkey Kong Country Returns Review

"It's on like a necktie-wearing ape!"

Donkey Kong Country Returns is a 2010 video game by Retro Studios, which looks to bring Donkey Kong back to his platforming glory days from Rareware’s SNES Donkey Kong Country trilogy. But does Donkey Kong Country Returns live up to its prestigious heritage? Or is this return to Donkey Kong’s country just bananas? Read more

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds Review

"It's like the Brady Bunch, only with Marvel and Capcom, and they're fighting, and it's nothing like the Brady Bunch."

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the long-awaited third installment in Capcom’s crossover fighting series that pits characters from their various games against the super heroes (and villains) of Marvel comics. Believe it or not, but it has been over a decade since Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (though Capcom has made other crossover fighting games since then, like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom), which means this third installment had some expectations. But is Marvel vs. Capcom 3 a fight for the ages? Or is it not so super? Read more

Super Mario 3DS!

Nintendo announced this a few days ago at the Game Developers Conference, but since I wanted my top 10 movies of 2010 blog to get a little more attention, I waited a few days before writing about it here. Anyway…

We knew it was coming, we just didn’t know how, but Mario, that is to say, a full fledged Mario platformer (as opposed to the already announced Mario Kart and Paper Mario) is coming to the 3DS! Read more

My Top 10 Movies of 2010 (Golden Yammie)

2010 proved to be another memorable year in movies for me. It seems the whole 2007-2010 timeframe served up a good number of films that rank amongst my personal favorites for that matter. But 2010 on its own was a standout year. There were a lot of good movies released in 2010, but only a few could rise above and beyond the competition to call themselves “the best movies of 2010.” The following are the films that most stood out for me.

And expect this list to be a bit more… colorful than you might be used to. Read more
