As 2011 closes its door ad 2012 welcomes us in, let us reflect on the many things pop-culture gave us for the past twelve months (at least, the facets of pop-culture that interest me, namely movies and video games)… Read more
With 2011 coming to a close (and still a number of reviews to catch up on) it’s time to look onward to 2012 and what it has in store (which hopefully includes those reviews I need to catch up on), and one of the first things I have planned for the new year are my annual “Yammy” awards!
I decided to do things a little differently this year, and will start with my video game awards (which will hopefully get done in the earlier parts of January) and do my movie awards a little later. Of course, the video game awards will be split in two, with the first “half” consisting of the majority of awards, and part two being a top ten countdown of my favorite games of 2011 (Game of the Year).
So there’s something to look forward to real soon…assuming anyone reads these blogs well enough to care. So stay tuned for the 2011 Yammy Awards!
My apologies for the lack of updates, I have been unable to write this past week. To avoid recreating the plot of Christmas with the Cranks I refuse to “skip Christmas” on this site so I wish you all a belated happy holidays!
Merry Christmas!
Happy Hanukkah!
Happy Kwanzaa!
Happy Festivus!
Happy Decemberween!

Yesterday, December 19th, marked the tenth anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring’s release in the United States. I know I’m a day late in writing on it, but I was celebrating by watching all three extended editions of the Lord of the Rings films, and obviously that was my entire day.
In very much related news, the trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has surfaced.
I have goosebumps! Rarely have I been so excited for a movie.
Anyway, cheers to what is probably the greatest movie trilogy of all time! Ten years of excellence!
2011 is closing in on its close, and as I continue to procrastinate my movie and video game reviews, I figured I’d put a little somethin’ somethin’ on here to build anticipation for the new year. My top five most anticipated films of 2012 (plus an honorable mention)! I will list the honorable mention first, and then the top five in chronological order of their impending release (in the US). Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to RockSteady’s critical darling, Batman: Arkham Asylum. The original was a breath of fresh air, a comic book-based video game that not only did justice to its source material, but was a genuinely fantastic video game through and through. In fact, I’ll go ahead and hail Arkham Asylum as my favorite game of 2009. As such, Arkham City certainly had a lot to live up to, and to deliver. But does Arkham City have what it takes to better its impressive predecessor? Read more
