Well, I guess now I’ve gone from being late with my movie awards to just plain procrastinating. But better late than never, I suppose. I did most of my movie awards in March, but here are my top 5 movies of 2012. I was going to do a full-on top 10 like previous years, but found ordering most of them to be pretty tedious. It can be hard to choose between great movies, but I selected my top 5 based primarily on how much I saw them, how much I think I’ll be watching them in the future (never underestimate the power of rewatchability), and how much I think I’ll be talking/thinking about them down the road. As such, this list may appear a bit…nerdish. But oh well. I know I usually mix in some blockbusters with award-winners with some obscurities in-between. But this year it’s pretty consistent from me.
With that said, let me give some very strong honorable mentions in Argo, Lincoln, and Skyfall. I’m sure I’m even forgetting some great ones, but those ones definitely stand out.
Anyway, here are my top five favorite films of 2012 (about time).
