EA was recently voted the “most hated” company for the second straight year. And now everyone has even more reason to hate them. Read more
The Oscars have come and gone, and once again the not-so-big dance was full of disappointments (although it was admittedly a step up from some recent years). The show finally had someone who works in animation host the show…it’s just too bad it had to be the anti-talent himself, Seth MacFarlane. Plenty of great movies were snubbed, boring movies were lavished with praise, and although there were some good winners, overall the show was, well, it was the Oscars. Which in recent history means an affair as forgettable as the movies that win most of their awards.
Yeah yeah yeah, the Oscars were in February yadda yadda yadda. But since when has being long overdue ever stopped me before? This annoyed me when it happened, but I didn’t feel the need to write about it, but I watched the clip again and it annoyed me enough to warrant writing this. So there, I’m writing this now. With the recent release of The Phantom Menace in 3D, as well as the recent “return” of Darth Maul in The Clone Wars series (which I really should watch, as big of a Star Wars fan as I am and I’ve only seen like two episodes), my interest (fanboyism?) of one of the Star Wars saga’s greatest characters has resurfaced. And so I decided to write some of my thoughts as to why Darth Maul is both one of Star Wars’ greatest triumphs, and one of George Lucas’ greatest missed opportunities. Read more
Okay, I know I previously promised my Yammy Awards would be “sometime in the earlier parts of January,” and obviously the earlier parts of January are past. But I still hope to have my video game portions of my Yammy Awards ready by the end of January or beginning of February. Though before that’s done, I should not only have my Top 10 Disney Villains list done, but hopefully reviews for Rayman Origins and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword as well! I will continue my movie reviews afterwards, and hopefully in not too long I’ll have my movie awards done as well. So yeah, there’s some stuff.
First thing’s first, I don’t like GameInformer. They are, perhaps second only to IGN, the epitome of what I don’t like about gaming publications. With that said, even a blind squirrel finds a nut eventually, and even GameInformer can do something that has me interested. The most recent example being the awarded 10s to Arkham City and now, Skyward Sword. Read more
I make no secret of my general dislike of gaming websites/magazines and their reviews (with little exceptions), mainly because I think they review games based on a number of bogus notions. Here’s a short list of things that annoy me in video game reviews, with brief intake on why they annoy me. Read more
You know what I’m sick of? People finding any and every excuse to jump up and down on Nintendo’s name.
The shinging example of what I’m talking about is the flak the Wii U is getting, despite the fact that, you know, the console probably won’t even be released until the latter part of 2012. Read more
While I last went to Video Games Live during the second day of E3 back in June, I recently got the urge to write about it. I guess it’s been a while since I last wrote about Video Games Live, so what the heck. Better late than never and all that. Read more
I absolutely love video games. You’ll find very few people who love video games near as much as I do. And yet, it seems in recent years I have had fewer and fewer kind words to say about the medium I love.
Simply put, I find modern gaming boring, tired, and pretentious. Read more
