Top Ten Disney Villains

"Just how snake-like will this list be?"

Well this has been a longtime coming. Many moons ago, I decided to compile a list of best Disney Villains. Though, through various setbacks, getting busy with other things, and downright procrastinations, this list kept finding its way back to the end of the line. So I decided to put my foot down and just finish this darn thing. Now, keep in mind that this is a very ‘literal’ list of Disney villains. That is to say, it’s based solely on villains from Disney animated films. Live-action Disney villains, Pixar villains and the like will have to wait for their own lists. Anyway, here are the top ten Disney villains, as chosen by me based on their wickedness, cunning, and all-around memorability. Read more

My Thoughts on Beauty and the Beast in 3D

Last week I had the pleasure of seeing one of the very finest of Disney movies, Beauty and the Beast, on the big screen again. Though something I have seen on comments on various sites has dumbfounded me: Some people are complaining about classic movies being re-released….

My Opinion on Total Film’s 50 Best Animated Films

Being released in October, this list is ancient by internet standards. But being a fan and lover of animated films, I can’t help but write about things like this (and I just found out about it, or I would have written this sooner). This is a list of “best animated films ever” as chosen by Total Film (a British magazine or something). Here is the list with some commentary by me. Read more

The Adventures of Tin Tin Review

"Despite that soft-served flip of a hairdo, Tin Tin epitomizes "action hero."

The Adventures of Tin Tin, based on the classic comic books by Georges Remi (or Herge), is a motion-capture adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg. Given Spielberg’s history with adventure films, Tin Tin has a lot to live up to. And being motion-capture, this is also Spielberg’s directorial debut in an “animated” film (at least, as animated as motion-capture qualifies), so Tin Tin also has a lot to prove. So just how does this animated adventure by America’s most famous director fair?

The Dark Knight Rises 6-Minute Preview Review

I thought I’d do something different and review the six-minute preview of The Dark Knight Rises that is playing with Imax screenings of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (it in itself will be reviewed soon). Read more

Coming Soon: The 2011 Yammy Awards!

With 2011 coming to a close (and still a number of reviews to catch up on) it’s time to look onward to 2012 and what it has in store (which hopefully includes those reviews I need to catch up on), and one of the first things I have planned for the new year are my annual “Yammy” awards!

I decided to do things a little differently this year, and will start with my video game awards (which will hopefully get done in the earlier parts of January) and do my movie awards a little later. Of course, the video game awards will be split in two, with the first “half” consisting of the majority of awards, and part two being a top ten countdown of my favorite games of 2011 (Game of the Year).

So there’s something to look forward to real soon…assuming anyone reads these blogs well enough to care. So stay tuned for the 2011 Yammy Awards!

The Lord of the Rings Film Trilogy Turns 10 (as of Yesterday)!

Yesterday, December 19th, marked the tenth anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring’s release in the United States. I know I’m a day late in writing on it, but I was celebrating by watching all three extended editions of the Lord of the Rings films, and obviously that was my entire day.

In very much related news, the trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has surfaced.

I have goosebumps! Rarely have I been so excited for a movie.

Anyway, cheers to what is probably the greatest movie trilogy of all time! Ten years of excellence!

My Top 5 Most Anticipated Movies of 2012

2011 is closing in on its close, and as I continue to procrastinate my movie and video game reviews, I figured I’d put a little somethin’ somethin’ on here to build anticipation for the new year. My top five most anticipated films of 2012 (plus an honorable mention)! I will list the honorable mention first, and then the top five in chronological order of their impending release (in the US). Arrietty Trailer in The Muppets

Yeah, I still write stuff besides celebratory blogs based on video game anniversaries…

So I saw The Muppets (review soon), and to my most pleasant surprise one of the trailers included with the film was for The Secret World of Arrietty, the newest film from Studio Ghibli due for a February release in North America. It may not seem like it, but this is actually a pretty big deal for Studio Ghibli fans.
