The Incredibles Turns 7 (as of Yesterday)!

"Showtime."

Yesterday, November 5th, was the seven year anniversary of when The Incredibles was released in U.S. theaters. Many still argue it’s Pixar’s best, and hopefully with the recent announcement of Disney re-releasing a number of their films and those of Pixar, maybe we’ll be seeing Mr. Incredible back on the big screen (fingers crossed).

Happy birthday The Incredibles! May it not take another seven years to get a sequel.

Arrietty Trailer

Disney has released the official English-language trailer for The Secret World of Arrietty (known as The Borrower Arrietty in Japan), the latest Studio Ghibli film set for a February 2012 release in the United States. Strangely, Disney made a completely different English dub for its release in Britain a few months back…Don’t know the reason for two different English versions, but who cares! A new Studio Ghibli film is on the way.

The trailer can be seen here via Apple. Enjoy.

Upcoming Disney Re-Releases

While I write a slew of video game reviews and top 5/10 lists, I figured I’d report this (admittedly old, by internet standards) bit of news.

Following the great success of the theatrical re-release of The Lion King last month, Disney has decided to re-release a number of other Disney and Pixar movies over the next couple of year, with added 3D visuals (for better or for worse). Read more

Spirited Away’s U.S. Anniversary

Spirited Away was released in U.S. theaters nine years ago today.

I already wrote a blog on Spirited Away’s 10th anniversary (from its original Japanese release), which you can read here.

Seeing as I’m me, I could never pass up the opportunity to praise a second anniversary for Spirited Away in the same year (hooray for technicalities!).

I’ll surely write about Spirited Away many, many more times in the future, but for now, happy “other” birthday Spirited Away!

Winnie the Pooh Review

"Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a faithful trip!"

Winnie the Pooh is the fifty-first entry in Disney’s animated motion picture output (not counting Pixar and the like), and being a part of Disney’s primary animation canon, is something of the official sequel to the 1977 Disney classic, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (the other sequels were all made by Disney’s subsidiaries). But is Winnie’s sequel something special?

Cars 2 Review

"Can watching a Pixar movie really save you 15% or more on Car insurance?"

Cars 2 is the newest release from Pixar Animation Studios, and the sequel to their 2006 hit, Cars (it’s also the first sequel to a Pixar film other than Toy Story). But does Cars 2 have what it takes to race to the finish line? Or does it have a few flat tires? Read more

Kung Fu Panda 2 Review

"He's THE big, fat panda!"

Kung Fu Panda 2 is the sequel to Dreamworks’ much-beloved Kung Fu Panda (2008). The original is one of the most popular of all of Dreamworks’ animated films, so this sequel had a lot to live up to. Does Kung Fu Panda 2 crumble under pressure? Or is it pure awesomeness?

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a list of someone’s to complain about comment on, mainly because it’s been a while since I’ve seen a recent best animated films and/or best video games list. My Top 10 Movies of 2010 (Golden Yammie)

2010 proved to be another memorable year in movies for me. It seems the whole 2007-2010 timeframe served up a good number of films that rank amongst my personal favorites for that matter. But 2010 on its own was a standout year. There were a lot of good movies released in 2010, but only a few could rise above and beyond the competition to call themselves “the best movies of 2010.” The following are the films that most stood out for me.

And expect this list to be a bit more… colorful than you might be used to. Read more
