Back in 1995, Pixar released the first ever full-length computer animated feature, Toy Story. And in the decade and a half since then, Pixar has released a total of ten feature films that have been heralded worldwide, and they have become the world’s most prominent force of computer-animated features.
After eleven years of waiting, the third installment to one of my all-time favorite film franchises is almost here. Toy Story 3 will be released in one week. I plan on seeing it on opening day. It’s almost hard to believe that after all these years, Toy Story 3 is almost here.
To celebrate, I am working on a “Pixar countdown,” similar to my Disney Renaissance Countdown from a little while back (yes, this is one of those “big posts” I was mentioning before).
Toy Story 3 hits theaters one week from today on June 18th.
Sorry for the slow updates as of late, I have been working on several different updates all at once, a few of which are pretty lengthy (top ten lists and whatnot). So I apologize for the slow updates, I should have several new blogs up here really soon.
So be patient!
Ever since the original film’s release in 2001, Shrek has become the poster boy for Dreamworks animated features. The series has seen a sequel hit theaters every three years, with the good-but-not-as-great-as-the-original Shrek 2 in 2004 and the disappointing and mediocre Shrek the Third in 2007. Now we have Shrek Forever After, or as it is now apparently named, The Final Chapter. It is said to be the final film of the Shrek series (not counting the upcoming Puss in Boots spinoff), but where does it fall in the Shrek pantheon? Does it recapture the charm and humor of the first and second entries, or does it fall in the same category as Shrek’s third outing? Read more
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is based on the long-running Prince of Persia video game series. More specifically, it is based on the 2003 game that it’s named after. Video game movies have a history of being…..well…..not very good…at all. Does Prince of Persia suffer the same fate as other video game movie adaptations? Or is it a pleasant surprise? Read more
Super Mario. It’s a name that epitomizes video games. It is the best selling video game series of all time, as well as the most influential and heralded. Mario himself, is the most recognizable video game character ever, and he is often cited as being more popular than Mickey Mouse. Read more

After his career as a pro-wrestler fell through, Mickey Rourke decided to become an explosives expert for Michael Bay.
Iron Man 2, as the name so bluntly applies, is the sequel to 2008’s Iron Man. The original Iron Man became a huge favorite amongst moviegoers and critics. But does Iron Man 2 live up to its predecessor? Read more
Just as I did last year, I wrote five blog posts today to coincide with Cinco de Mayo. Read more
How to Train Your Dragon is the latest Dreamworks animated film. When it comes to animation, Dreamworks has been a bit of a mixed bag, Shrek and Kung Fu Panda were great, and Shrek 2 was good, for every one of the good ones they had some extremely mediocre ones like Shark Tale.
Does How To Train Your Dragon rank up with the better half of Dreamworks’ animated output? Or does it join the more forgettable lot? Read more
